Roman blinds are a brilliant window dressing. They give the texture you would want from curtains but the simplicity and neatness of a blind. They are better for smaller spaces. We recommend roman blinds a lot for new build homes especially in bedrooms where space maybe more limited. You select your fabric from 1000s of options, you select the lining option as roman blinds can be thermal and black out lined. They are all made on aluminium headrails with metal side chains these are compliant with health and safety regulations to date.
Roman blinds can be used on most windows. We tend to think of them as an alternate to curtains which is why we mainly advise they are installed on the outside of the recess. This prevents light coming in from the edge and also dresses the recess. A roman blind when fully stacked up will always take up about 8-12 inches so if you install inside the recess keep in mind you will lose some of your window. Taller Victorian style windows shown in the image above suits a Roman blind installed on the inside. Electric roman blinds are a great option especially if you have multiple windows being dressed or particularly high or hard to reach areas.
